GM’s Day: March Fo(u)rth and Celebrate!
March 4, 2013 NewsMarch 4th is International GM’s Day, a holiday in which we collectively thank our Game Masters for all of the hard work they have done to bring us great gaming experiences throughout the year. This year it also marks the 5th anniversary of the death of Gary Gygax, the father of all GMs.
Gygax was one of the co-founders of Dungeons and Dragons and was responsible for bringing us many great games throughout the years. He also brought us the D&D cartoon series, but we can forgive him for that. He is a legend and a hero to gaming nerds everywhere, so take a moment of silence and solute him for all of his hard work, dedication, and — most importantly — imagination, without which the hobby as we know it today may be drastically different.
Let’s not also forget that this day is to celebrate all GMs, DMs, Storytellers, Navigators, and so forth. Whatever you call them, these are the people who help facilitate great gaming experiences that help us build both lasting memories and lasting relationships.
To celebrate, why not buy your GM something nice? Or, if you’re a GM, pick up a little something for yourself. DriveThruRPG/RPGNOw is celebrating by offering 25% off a huge selection of books from 300 different publishers. Now’s the time to pick up that special gaming product you’ve had your eye on for so long.
